What it actually feels like to be stuck — and why it's not what you think

The people I work with are not broken. They are not failing. They are not even particularly lost. They are extraordinarily capable — and somewhere along the way, the motion stopped meaning something.

They're busy. God, are they busy. But busy and building are two very different things. You can be in motion every single day and still end the week feeling like nothing moved. That gap — between activity and progress, between effort and meaning — is exactly what the Momentum Mirror is designed to surface.

The five places momentum breaks down

Clarity. Not about where you want to go — most people are clear on that. But about what's actually happening right now. Where the time is really going. What's working and what isn't. Without honest inventory, everything that follows is built on a shaky foundation.

Sequence. High performers are rarely short of ideas or initiatives. They're short of the right order. Doing the right things in the wrong sequence wastes more energy than doing nothing at all. The lowest hanging fruit — the small move that unlocks everything else — gets skipped in favor of the biggest problem, which is almost never the right starting point.

Direction. Not a vague destination. A real map. With actual steps in actual order, with an honest accounting of what each step requires. A wish list is not a strategy. A vision board is not a plan. The difference matters enormously.

Boundaries. Almost every person I've worked with has had some version of the same problem: they don't know how to say no. Not because they don't want to. Because no one ever showed them that it was an option — or that it was safe. Your time and attention are the most valuable things you have. Treating them like unlimited resources is the fastest way to run out of both.

Trust. In your own judgment. In your own read of a situation. In the version of yourself that already knows what the right move is. Most stuck people aren't lacking information. They're lacking permission — usually their own — to act on what they already know.
